Daughter turned 18 and made a little money and bought a car

My daughter bought a car in 2017 when she was 17.  It is registered to us. She turned 18 during the year.  Can she claim this purchase on her individual taxes?

Hi,

Did your daughter receive a 1099 or a W-2 last year?

The car purchase itself is not a deductible expense. However, sales taxes and personal property taxes are deductible. She would have to have enough itemized deductions in order to take advantage of the deductions.
