Why send an email saying it's ready if it's not? Be better.
Additional updates are being made to form 8911 around February 21. Please check back after that date to check for your eligibility to receive the credit.
@Cynthiad66, acknowledged. The issue is that TT emailed folks to tell them it was ready and the availability tool similarly still says that is the case... https://form-status.app.intuit.com/tax-forms-availability/formsavailability?albRedirect=true&product...
Unbelievable! Now TT is saying they plan to make updates for form 8911 on 02/28/2024! I seriously can't believe this and most likely will file with another company this year since I can't wait any longer. It's best to file early due to all the fraudsters out there.
My TurboTax now says the updates will be by 02/28/24! Last week it said 02/22/24. What do you have to say about this? It's not acceptable!!
Agreed. Intuit just wants aid identity thieves and drag this out so they can steal your hard-earned dollars. I went ahead and filed without 8911. I will amend when this circus show is over. This is the last year using TurtleTax. It has been a nice run for a few decades, but you just lost another customer.
This is the error I _still_ get on Feb 21, 2024 trying to transmit my Turbo Taxes,
I was still showing 2/22/24 as the date until I saved, closed TT and reopened. Now it shows the updated date :(
TurtleTax! I love that and it's a perfect name for them. Thank you for your reply!
@PaulJR3 If you ran the online check from the Windows app, it will say it is up to date. You have to download and apply the manual update and the date will update to the 28th for more TurtleTax lies:
Thanks for the info. I have updated my Deluxe TT 2023 on Win 10. I am just curious about this: why didn't TT do an auto update on this and instead opt for a manual update? I'm new to TT. I am a long time user of H&R Block. And so, I do not understand TT's software support / update system.
Thanks again
I paid for Premier but it's not worth a dollar at this point. Will be requesting refund for the lies. If only Intuit got their act together, the updating will work properly but with saying certain forms were available when they were not, it appears applying a manual update is the only way from what I figured out this year. I never had issues previous years until I needed 8936 and 8911. Allegedly, Thursdays is when updates are usually released via the Online check method for desktop app. Is H&R or TaxAct any better? They both have desktop versions too from what it looks like, maybe time to go back as they have 8911 available from what someone said and tried.
The calculation for baked in 8911 already works. The new items that IRS is requesting is a manual process to look up and just input. Literally takes a day to update the form and test it out but they keep dragging their feet. The parrots will start posting the new date I am sure.
If I can make a suggestion? This is not 100% TT's fault. The IRS updated form 8911 in January, 2024, that modifies the form for the 2023 tax year form RETROACTIVELY. The IRS is the bad guy here. TT is just holding the bag to clean up the mess. I would much prefer that TT releases the form with high confidence ONCE and possibly late that me having to file an amended return later. Just my humble opinion.
Multiple "employee tax experts" are copy and pasting the message about it ready on 02/21. Are these just bots? What is going on??? This is such a simple problem to fix. The communication is terrible. TurboTax is very unprofessional about this.
False. TurboTax is now telling me that Form 8911 will be available on February 28.
Perhaps the alleged date will perpetually be "Now + 1 week"?
