Corrected W2-- changes in FICA
Hi,
I am on an F1 visa and a RESIDENT alien for tax purposes, because of my previous residence in the US.
I learned that FICA was supposed to be withheld and talked to my employer (university). They sent me corrected W2s for 2022 and 2023. Only boxes 3, 4, 5, and 6 are changed: the boxes were previously all "0", but now show certain amounts.
1. Do I need to file an amended return? From what I learned, this does not affect my taxes, but I still feel like I need to report it since I received the corrected W2.
2. Do I need to pay the corrected FICA to the university I am employed at? How does this work?
Thank you in advance!

Corrected W2-- changes in FICA
If you want to determine whether you need to Amend your 2022 and 2023 returns, save a copy of your originally filed returns. Then open TurboTax for those years and Edit your W-2 entry. If your bottom line changes, you should Amend.
If not, just save the corrected W-2's for your records.
Here's How to Access a Prior Year Return if you used TurboTax Online.
As for the university, they normally would pay these taxes for you, so you wouldn't need to pay them to the university. You could check with them just to confirm that.
