Claiming working dependant

My daughter who lives with me claimed herself so I wasn't able to. She is 18. Will I be able to next year?

You can still claim her if she is your dependent. She will need to amend her return and select that someone can claim her as a dependent since she is your dependent. You can go ahead and add her as your dependent as long as she qualifies. You would just need to mail your return since her social security number has been filed electronically for the year.

WAIT until you receive your refund and then Amend.

My daughter received a refund. Will she need to pay that or a portion of it back?

She may have to pay a portion back. The software would tell her how much of it is due back if any.

Amend forms must be mailed and take up to 16 weeks to process also but you can send your return immediately. Be sure it is postmarked by April 18,2017.

I thought I had to wait to amend until after I got my refund according to a previous answer. Is that correct?
