TurboTax gives an estimate based on averages, but does not have information specific to your refund and timing.

You can check your refund status using the information provided HERE.

When you filed the tax return it was Accepted by the IRS.  Accepted and Approved are totally different.

If accepted by the IRS use the federal tax refund website to check the refund status - https://www.irs.gov/refunds

After the tax return has been Accepted by the IRS (meaning only that they received the return) it will be in the Processing mode until the tax refund has been Approved and then an Issue Date will be available on the IRS website.
See this IRS website for federal tax refund FAQ's - https://www.irs.gov/refunds/tax-season-refund-frequently-asked-questions

Hey

I recently amended my 2024 tax return because I received two different W-2 forms in the mail. After adding them, the instructions indicated to download a PDF to print and mail. However, it also stated to stop if no payment is due, yet at the bottom, it shows a payment of $151 is due. Additionally, it mentions that I can pay on mytax.illinois.gov, and my homepage instructs me to mail in my amended state return. I am confused as to why I have to pay anything please help.

It depends. By adding the additional W2's, you now owe $151.  If you received a refund in your original return, you will still receive the refund. The $151 is additional and must be mailed to the state.

The states do not have the ability to offset what you owe against your original refund so they must handle these two events separately.

Thank you for the response. I have paid the $151 electronically. My last question is, the paper mentioned that if I pay electronically, I do not have to mail the form. Does this mean just the voucher for the $151? I assume I still have to mail the amended form.

Thanks.

Yes, you still would need to mail the Illinois amended return IL-1040-X but would not have to mail the voucher.

See here for the state's instructions for Form IL-1040-X.

Yes  my return was accepted by IRS 1/22/25. But it still says processing.   I checked the irs site. And it only says processing it don’t tell me y it is taking so long  turbo tax said I would get it by 2/11.    Than said because EIC.   It would tell me when  I get my refund 2/22.  But status still has not changed. It says I should get refund my 3/2.    I’ve tried calling it’s and can’t speak to anyone.

TurboTax doesn't receive updates on the progress of your tax refund, and the date that TurboTax will show is based on the average processing time of 21 days.  For early filers with EIC or the refundable portion of the additional child tax credit (ACTC), those dates are pushed out by a few weeks due to federal law.

The IRS has indicated that most folks with EIC or the ACTC will see their refunds by March 3.  Some will see them a little sooner, and others later.

The IRS won't be able to give you any additional information until after the March 3 date, at the soonest.

While I know it's frustrating, there isn't any remedy other than to wait in this case.  Do keep an eye on your mail because sometimes the IRS sends out a request for additional information.  If you get one of these notices you want to reply right away to minimize further delays.
