Then delete the W-2 and enter the 1099-R in the proper place.

OR Use the "Tools" menu (if online version left side) and then "Search Topics" for "1099-R" which will take you to the same place.
Be sure to choose which spouse the 1099-R is for if this is a joint tax return.
Be sure to pick the correct 1099-R type: Standard 1099-R, CSA-1099-R, CSF-1099-R, RRB-1099-R.

If you entered your Form 1099-R as a W-2, then you will need to delete that W-2 and re-enter Form 1099-R in the correct place in your return.
W-2 income and Form 1099-R income are not the same. Form 1099-R income requires you to answer a series of follow-up questions so that the proper amount can be treated as taxable income on your return.

If you have already filed your return with the Form 1099-R reported in the wrong place, then you will need to amend it to make the correction.
