I want to go back and change 540NR because I actually WAS a resident, but I cannot find the place to change that. How do I do that?

Wow...that was difficult. I found out why it wouldn't change when I tried to edit California. You HAVE to enter in the federal part MY INFO, that you are a resident of California. Edit your personal summary. State of Residence: California.

In the My Info section of your return, you can change your state residency. It will ask you if you were a resident of the state for the entire year or if you lived in more than one state.
