Sadly, the work around doesn't work for me.
Turbotax charges so many money but couldn't deliver the basic feature, sad.
I am thinking this may be more an Adobe issue than Intuit. Both companies are making every attempt to exploit your personal informational and deliver it to their cloud.
When you save to PDF just wait. A minute, 2 minutes? Eventually the save dialog will show up. I doubt you can print directly from TurboTax. I don't have a printer. One could further test who, Intuit or Adobe, by disabling Intuit/TurboTax and Adobe access to the internet via the firewall. Turn the ports on one by one seeing which one accesses and how long. the delay is a time out. Most likely Adobe trying to see if they can sell you anything or popup a window with cool features that you click and get a bigger longer sales pitch.
If it is Intuit, they will not fix it. They will continue to claim they are not using the cloud.
@tjpsnj Naw... this is a TurboTax issue and only affects Mac users with the desktop editions.
I have test accounts online that immediately download a PDF of the online tax return.
And I have real tax returns using the TurboTax desktop edition for Windows that has no problem immediately cresting a PDF or printing the tax return from the PDF in the File section of the program.
If you go back to the beginning of the thread you will see I am the second that asked the question and requested action.
Since I have upgraded Windows to 11 and still have the same issue saving the PDF so that I can review the numbers are all on the correct line.
You pointing out it is MAC also makes me think even more it is an Adobe issue. Even Reader itself is incredibly sluggish reaching out to Adobe cloud to find what it can attempt to popup and sell you something. Either way it will be cloud related. The time you wait for the save as... dialog to show up is about the same every time. It is a time out. Likely Adobe promised to suppress 'buy me duns' as Intuit Turbotax calls up the PDF. If it was not the cloud or Adobe, it would be fixed already.
No response from intuit makes it quite obvious they are not going to fix "good as it gets". Pay your 95 bucks and eat it like the rest of us. Hope they can actually protect their clouds as they suck up our PII.

I have Found a workaround to saving the TurboTax File to PDF on a Mac. On the File tab (in the TurboTax Application) select "Save For your Records". Then select "Print Returns". The Printer menu will come up. At the very Bottom...click the dropdown arrow next to the word PDF. Then select "Save as PDF". Then select what you want to name the file and where you want to save it. Then click "Save". The file should save no problem.
Your company has not addressed this very serious and very basic issue in a month. I also have a windows computer. Can I download the Windows version without paying for the program again? please advise.
When I chose Save as PDF, the bar is working, and I heard a click, then everything is quite. There is no window open for me to choose any option for the saved file. BTW, I just downloaded the software in the past weekend.
Having the same problem on a mac.
Can you clarify if you are using desktop or online? If using desktop, have you ran the most recent update?
I had the same problem and these steps don't work either.. Piece of c... uh!!
I don't think is Adobe's issue, l don't come with an excuse for the bad job TurboTax does to resolve problems. If that is the case why every time I click Print just from Turbotax not from Adobe PDF the window disappear?
It is best to save your return as a PDF, then print from there, if you're having problems printing directly. If you choose 'Print' you can then choose 'Save as PDF'.
