I have a new laptop (Win 10 Dell XPS) and am trying to install TT Deluxe 2016-2020 on it. Started with 2019 and it was a nightmare. It froze (I think its actually a broken communication issue) on authentication and it took a 2:45 call with support to get finally get the authentication code in and accepted. Got it running but when we went to install the free state portion, that screen was frozen too. The rep had to post a state installer to my downloads area on the Intuit site to get it to install.
Next was 2020. There were similar problems in both places, but I was able to get it going. No problem with 2016; 2017 had some trouble with the State download, but I got that going as well.
Installing 2018 is shaping up as another nightmare. Program loaded with no trouble, updates and all, but the load state screen freezes. If I keep clicking on it it sometimes loads bit by bit, and at one point I erroneously got it to download CT, and then finally NYS which is what I need, so now I have the "ADD" button for both states. When I click on NYS, I think it wants me to pay bc there's more than one state, and I can't get rid of CT. I've uninstalled, reinstalled 3x, the last using Intuit's forced uninstall process, to no avail. It always downloads both NYS and CT as part of the install, so there must be some hidden files somewhere, or something in the registry causing it to do so. I see they have something called a state cleanup tool, which sounds like it might be helpful, but I can only find one for 2019. Can anyone advise on how to do a full, clean uninstall that will get rid of the state downloads?
