I am using the 2024 desktop version of Turbo Tax Deluxe. The software format for entering info from my investment providers has changed this year.
I was able to enter the 1099-Int and 1099-Div data, but when I try to access the Investment Income from sales of mutual funds, the system shows me my Dividends and Interest info, but nothing about sales.
When I first came into the section, there were a number of options for the type of info to enter and I selected Interest (I think), now I can't figure out ho to get to the 1099-B info.
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
To enter an investment sale -
Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)
Click on Wages and Income (Personal Income using Home and Business)
Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
Under Investment Income
On Stocks, Cryptocurrency, Mutual Funds, Bonds, Other, click the start or update button
Or enter investment sales in the Search box located in the upper right of the program screen. Click on Jump to investment sales
Using the desktop editions -
On the next screen click on Yes
On the next screen click on Skip import
On the next screen, select the Investment Type and continue
You enter investment sales in the Wages and Income section of TurboTax, then Investments Sales, then Stocks, cryptocurrency, Mutual Funds, Bonds, etc... Skip the section where it asks if you want to upload your tax documents if you don't want to do that. Choose Stock, Bonds, Mutual Funds as the type of investment you want to enter. You'll come to a screen where you can enter in your sales proceeds and cost basis.
