Can't enter "personal property taxes" I get a pop up window with the statement "Hmm, looks like we've hit a snag". So can't enter my information.

I believe there is a bug with the program that won't allow me to enter my personal property tax information.

I tried the instructions but it didn’t solve the problem. I am using a MacBook and using TurboTax as a downloaded program. I continue to get the pop up window and can’t enter my personal property taxes associated with living in Virginia. The pop up window instructs me to go lack to my last entry which have I have done and is correct. There has to be a bug with this program.

Yes, there IS a BUG!  Intuit TurboTax needs to fix it without users (ME!) having to go through silly workarounds.    I guess after 5 days Intuit hasn't figured it out yet!  Never had this issue in past years.

02/21/25 More:  Please also see my comment under "Solved Re: You may be confusing vehicle registration fees and property tax..." which includes a screenshot of the BUG that both jebs1 and I received.  I reported the bug to Intuit on February 20, 2025.   Screenshot now included below.

02/21/25 More again:  This is an excerpt of Intuit's email reply to this BUG incident number "one five four four four 86040" with my interpretation italics

"There will not be a [promised] callback regarding the investigation request, since the error can be bypassed [ignored] and you can continue filing by clicking the menu bar at the top. [Don't use the property tax line at all and ignore the error & bug messages.]  Please know our support team will continue working to resolve the issues with TurboTax Desktop.  [You're screwed and you'll have to figure out what to do on your own.  Maybe we'll fix it next year, maybe we won't.]"

I suggest adding the Virginia State Car property Taxes on the registration line since TurboTax assumes all these lines are tax deductible based on property value (and not weight) and adds up this group of lines with  the result placed on for 1040.

Make sure you don't have an empty 1098 or a supporting details page that is stuck.   You can search for 1098 and use the jump to link to be taken to your 1098 summary.   Remove any lenders that should not be there.   Right-click (or use the edit menu up top--Cntl + I) in any field to see if there is a supporting details worksheet.   If so, delete it.

You can add your real estate property taxes on the Mortgage interest line or the Property taxes line below it.   If you use the mortgage interest line, you can add a blank 1098 that has just the real estate tax and mortgage origination date.
