I submitted my 2019 taxes through the mail on 1/12 of this year. When I go to the IRS website to look at transcripts they haven't acknowledged my filing. Because of that, now I cannot e-file my 2020 because TurboTax asks for my AGI from the previous year, which I have, but the IRS does not, so they are being rejected. I got a courtesy call from TurboTax asking about the problem, they suggested entering $0 and that was rejected as well. How can I move forward with filing my 2020 return either with an AGI entry that will get accepted or circumventing the AGI part altogether?

If it was rejected for AGI—-be aware that many 2019 returns took so long for the IRS to process that your 2019 AGI might not be in the IRS system. Try using zero instead.
If filing with zero is rejected then file again but select the option that you did not file last year. The IRS does not see that question and it will allow you to e-file with no AGI question.
Or—-if you filed as a “non-filer” just to get the stimulus check on a 2019 return, try using $1 as the AGI.

If that does not work and you still cannot e-file, then print, sign, and mail your tax return.
I selected the option for did not file last year and the return was accepted. Thanks!
