Yes it freezes at the activation screen.

Try the steps in this Turbo Tax help article regrading blank activation screens. You can also try this  troubleshoot installation guide to resolve the issue. If those steps don't work, you can activate your Turbo Tax product by phone.

You need to explain that in more detail about what/where the roadblock is when you try to install the desktop program from a CD.  Where are you being asked for a password?   A password is not required to install the TurboTax program from a CD.   A password "might" be required after installation if one tries to transfer in a 2020 data file that was password-protected last year.    A license code is required during installation to activate the product, but that's not a password; it's a unique code that comes with the CD each year.

And what OS are you using--Mac or Windows?
