Can I work as a french expatriate?

Hello!

I am French and have a spouse visa until the end of November.

We applied for our visa renewal in July. My husband's has been accepted and mine is in progress but it can take a long time (more than 10 months) to be accepted.

My previous work permit expired in July. I applied for a new work permit at the same time than my visa renewal. I can't get my work permit before my visa renewal so it can take more than 10 months.

My question is as french person without a visa and without a work permit:

- Which is the best way to work in my situation?

- Is a work permit require to work as a freelancer?

- Is a work permit require to create my own company?

- Is a visa require to create my own company?

- In short, if I can create my own company (Sole Proprietorship I suppose), do I need a Visa and/or a work permit?

If you have any advice for anyone in my situation who really wants to work and help people.

Thanks a lot

Gwen

These are legal questions, not tax questions. This community is for questions about U.S. income tax. You should consult a lawyer who is familiar with visa regulations.
