To confirm the scheduled direct debit payment, you would need to access a copy of your tax return. The scheduled debit date for a federal tax payment would be listed on the Federal Information Worksheet-Part V. The debit date for a state tax payment would be on your State Information Worksheet-Part V.
Please take the steps below to obtain a copy of your complete tax return with worksheets.
Note: If you do not see the scheduled debit date on the worksheet(s) above, this means a debit payment has not been scheduled and you can pay the taxes due by either mailing a check or paying online through the IRS.gov website https://www.irs.gov/payments or your state agency website.
Here's how to access your state Department of Revenue website:
This was helpful, thanks
My scheduled debit did not pay yesterday (July 14) as scheduled.
My form shows:
Your return shows you have elected to pay your balance due of XXXXXX by Direct Debit using the following information:
- Amount Withdrawn: XXXXXX
- Account Number: XXXXXX
- Routing Transit Number:XXXXXX
- Date of Withdrawal: 07/14/2020
Advise? The routing and account numbers are accurate.

It depends.
The withdrawal will take place but sometimes it takes the IRS a bit longer to process the request when the volume is higher.
You can use the following link to determine the status of your payments and account with the IRS directly. This is your best option at this point in time.
Thanks, but I already went there, and I don't currently have an IRS account, and even if I create one they say: "Allow 1 to 3 weeks for payments to appear in the payment history." So, even if they had debited it--and they didn't because I can check my bank account in nearly real time--I couldn't see it yet.
The dilemma at this point is whether or not to pay directly on their site today and risk getting double charged and trying to get one credited back (and it's not a trivial sum) or to risk a penalty for late payment.
UPDATE:
So I created an account at the IRS and it says under Account Balance:
The information provided is based on our current data.
The numbers here may not reflect:
The only way I can see that they actually received my filing is by requesting a transcript. It doesn't even exist in Tax Records, and I filed in may but deferred payment to the day before the deadline.
Their site is useless for this situation at this moment.
