Get your taxes done using TurboTax
Thanks, but I already went there, and I don't currently have an IRS account, and even if I create one they say: "Allow 1 to 3 weeks for payments to appear in the payment history." So, even if they had debited it--and they didn't because I can check my bank account in nearly real time--I couldn't see it yet.
The dilemma at this point is whether or not to pay directly on their site today and risk getting double charged and trying to get one credited back (and it's not a trivial sum) or to risk a penalty for late payment.
UPDATE:
So I created an account at the IRS and it says under Account Balance:
The information provided is based on our current data.
The numbers here may not reflect:
- Recently filed or processing returns
- Pending payments or adjustments
- Information on your business account
- Installment agreement fees
The only way I can see that they actually received my filing is by requesting a transcript. It doesn't even exist in Tax Records, and I filed in may but deferred payment to the day before the deadline.
Their site is useless for this situation at this moment.
