Can I practice filing the federal and state personal income taxes for 2024 without actually filing to see if I am comfortable using Turbotax over another filing service?

Previously, I filed my personal income taxes with another major tax filing service. However, the other service poorly coordinates the federal with my state return. Does Turbotax permit a potential client to practice filing without actually paying and filing? If so, may I use the non-filed practice information and data to use for the 2025 exam?

Sort of.  You can fill out the Online version without paying or filing but you have to pay any fees to see all the forms.  And you may  have to upgrade to a higher online version to enter certain income and deductions.   You can get a preview of the 1040.  You can transfer it into 2025 next year although you should transfer from your actual filed return.  So if your practice return matches what you filed you can use it.     Or you can buy the desktop program which has more features than the Online version.  

The Download Desktop program you buy and install the program on a full Windows or Mac computer (a desktop or laptop), which can do unlimited returns. And you can buy any version. All the Desktop programs have all the forms, you just get more help in the higher versions. And the Desktop program has many other features over the Online versions. Like seeing and entering into the actual forms. And it has a What-If worksheet to test in.

Thank you. I completed the practice filing and found that Turbotax - without doubt - coordinates and understands my state's taxes much better than the other major tax service I used.  Thanks for responding to my question.
