If you have not paid for the online edition you are using, have not filed your tax return or registered the Free edition, then you can clear your return and start over with a lower priced edition. Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the program screen while working on the 2019 online tax return. Click on Clear & Start Over.

If you are eligible you can use the TurboTax Free File Program which is free to file both a federal and state tax return. The Free File Program edition is a full featured personal tax program and on a separate website from the TurboTax online editions.

I moved from deluxe to free file because I assumed I was eligible but after the change I get the message I am not eligible to file. Can I switch back to paid versions?
I just had to pay twice to file my state return. Turbotax is a horrible product. Never use it again
@patriciarossini TurboTax will prompt you to upgrade as needed as you complete your return.

What is the TurboTax phone number
It does not prompt me to upgrade, it simply tells me I can't move forward. I accidentally am in the IRS free version now.
If you are in the IRS Free File version and it will not allow you to move forward, then it means your return has some element to it that disqualifies it from the Free File format. You will need to create a new account and restart the return here: TurboTax.Com.
Due to restrictions placed by the Free File program, there is not an option to upgrade from within this separate product.
the free file says there is a phone support but how do i call where the number? right now the only thig i found was a turbo tax number
