I have filed my federal via e-file and print the state return document. The state return document says: "Do not mail a paper copy of your tax return. Since you filed electronically, the Franchise Tax Board already has your return. "
How should I file my state return via mail?

Sounds like it accidentally efiled State. Don't mail it if it was efiled. Double check your efile status here
https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/
Check your emails. When you efile you get back 2 emails. The first email only confirms the transmission. The second email says if the IRS (or state) Accepted or Rejected your efile. Accepted only means they accepted your return FOR Processing. Not that your return is right.
Thanks, @VolvoGirl !
I am using the windows version TurboTax. It says:
The following return has been transmitted.
- Federal Return
The State return isn't there so I think it hasn't been filed. For my State return, I have only two choices: 1. E-file it now. 2. Do not e-file not, do it later. There's no choice about mailing it.
I do have received two emails saying my Federal was transmitted and Accepted. But I didn't receive any email about my State return.
Hi, @VolvoGirl,
How can I check if my state return is e-filed or not? Which is the source of truth? Thanks for helping!
Well if the status lookup link above doesn't say Accepted for state then it wasn't filed.
