You can claim the number of dependents you actually have. You cannot get earned income credit for more than three qualifying children ---even if you have more than three children. But you can get other child-related credits for your own qualifying children, or the credit for other dependents for qualifying relatives. You need the Social Security number or ITIN for any dependent you claim.

WHO CAN I CLAIM AS A DEPENDENT?
