Can I claim my deceased father if he died in february 2016?

I have claimed him as a dependent for the last 5 years prior to his death. I used to claim my mother too but she passed in 2014 and claimed her on my 2015 taxes.

Yes if you were able to claim him you can claim him for the whole year.

my tax  person is telling me that only a spouse can claim a deceased person, but my mother passed too in 2014 and they were both my dependents. Do I write deceased anywhere on my forms to indicate he died in February of 2016?
