Can an adjustable bed is tax exempt? I mean the purchase tax!

Can an adjustable bed is tax exempt? My doctor gave a prescription for a bed for GERD. Macy's told that they can deduct the purchase tax with my Rx. Where I am  purchasing the bed is asking me for an IRS link with the information. Can't find anything in the IRS website. Do you have an IRS link with this information?

The IRS doesn't handle sales tax.  That's a state matter.  Check your state tax web site for rules on sales and use tax, including medical exemptions and how to get one.
