Do not omit the 1099 for the MCTR. This will either cause a delay with your refund or it will cause the IRS to determine that you did not report all of your income and you will have a penalty later. The 1099 is sent to the IRS as well as to you, so your tax return must match their data. If you omit the 1099, it will not match.
Consider reporting the California Middle Class Tax Refund as follows:
The California Middle Class Tax Refund will not be taxable on your California or Federal returns.

correction correction correction!!! just resubmitted and federal went through. waiting on state to update from pending status. this is at 01/30 at 4:50 PST!! yayyyyyy!
Both returns have been accepted. Woot!! Woot!!
State accepted.
I've been using TT for over 30 years. They cannot be held responsible the the IRS and state do not suplly the fixes in a timely manner. Hope you stay with them. I have.
Try deleting the entry from the federal return and then re-enter it. If you are using the desktop software, make sure your software is updated. @rickycindy13x
its working now! thanks!!!
If you clicked that then you were taxed on state which you should not have been you needed to go in state form and click on middle class tax relief put your $amount in and would have gotten your state money back
The federal is taxed if over 600 if your was and you didn’t get taxed then it was done wrong
Thank you!! I did not omit :). It is through at this time. Both Federal and State of California accepted. Wahoo..finally. Again, thank you!
Mine was $350 so will I be taxed by federal?
Also, it stated that you only get a 1099 if it’s $600 or more so I’m trying to do my taxes it wants information from the 1099 so I’m not sure how to move forward
Mine was $350. It stated in the state info that you’re only getting a 1099 if it was 600 or more so does that mean I do not have to report it? It wants information from a 1099 when you feed the information in on the feds I have no 1099. How do I file?
Technically you should still claim the $350 as miscellaneous income on your federal return and then make an adjustment on your state return to subtract that amount from your income as the state does not tax the middle class tax refund.
Same here! Also I called IRS and there is no determination as to the federal taxability on the CA MCTR. Turbo Tax says it's not taxable, but the program puts it on the return. It is still rejecting.
