If you are a minor and you are filing your first tax return---you can be claimed as a dependent on a parent's return. It is VERY important for you to mark on your own return that someone else can claim you as a dependent.
You can actually see if you can do the free filing with the IRS under their pilot program that just started. See if you qualify under their parameters first. Go to directfile.irs.gov. This is for easy filers who live in certain states. You can see from that link.
