I electronically filed my 2025 tax returns, state and federal, on 1/30/26, using Turbotax Deluxe desktop version. Prior to filing, I saved a PDF version of the returns, as well as printed out a hard copy. My online bank account information shows the IRS is going to deposit a much larger refund to my bank account than what I filed for. I went to reopen Turbotax and had to wait for updates. When the updated Turbotax opened, it showed the incorrect large amount for refunds for both state and federal taxes. Upon exploration, I see the error. My 1099-R pension form has figures in both lines 1 and 2a, with a very small difference between the two. On 1/30/26, Turbotax handled this correctly. After the software update, it wiped out line 2a on my worksheets, thus making my pension entirely nontaxable, increasing my refund approximately tenfold. I have sent my form to an agent, as suggested online. I have received a token number.
