Completely agree with the comments above.  Called customer service and after 10 minutes of an automated recording maze, I COULD NOT speak to a live person.  The automated recording would only send me "detailed instructions" via text or email.  THIS IS SO FRUSTRATING.  Shame on you TurboTax.  I resubmitted my returns and am crossing my fingers that it works this time.  A "product update"?  Does that mean that a faulty Turbo Tax product caused my returns to be rejected?  Broken product.  Broken customer service... what are we paying Turbo Tax for exactly?  I've used Turbo Tax to file all of my tax returns over the last 10+, but given this experience - if Turbo Tax doesn't step up to address this situation properly, I may have to take my business elsewhere next year.  Your move Turbo Tax.

It was absolutely shocking to see the word REJECTED for the first time. Sadly there's no other software that's equally good. I used to use H&R Block but it wasn't as good as TurboTax. Hope they take this as a good lesson for the future.

Guys on FB turbo tax page are clueless. They haven't a clue about the 8960 issue. Keep telling me to clear my cache. Uhm.. hello, was the update done or not? My cache isn't the issue 😉

I signed in to TurboTax 15 minutes ago, resubmitted, and my Federal return was just accepted. That said, at every step of this process over the last 24 hours, TurboTax has done a poor job of explaining what the problem was and what steps should be taken to rectify it. The last set of instructions were written in a way that could be interpreted as implying that I was expected to sign in and start my taxes all over again, from scratch, which was not actually the case. The quality of these instructions and the messaging associated with the earlier error reporting was not at all at the level that I usually experience with TurboTax.

What version were you using?  Turbotax Live or the downloaded software?  I am waiting to refile but there has been no official mention of an implemented Turbotax Live fix

Hey folks. There are other tax filing products out there and we should probably consider using them next year. I efiled my taxes before leaving on a two week trip during which time I can NOT refile my tax return. Two days after my departure I get the news that the IRS has rejected my return. From what I read above this is FAKE NEWS. It is an Intuit problem! Clearly TurboTax has left me in a lurch! What if I was taking a three week trip?

Poor communication indeed by Intuit. Even today March 29 (past March 28, the stated date), there is no further update on whether it's been fixed or is still work in progress. Anyways I have been thinking about experimenting with TaxAct and for such poor service I would like to consider switching to TaxAct next year. If Intuit is serious enough on this, it should refund the fees to its affected customers.

As of March 29, the answer is stale because they were supposed to fix it by March 28. No update either on whether it is fixed or is work in progress. Indeed poor service by Intuit. Anyways, I have started thinking about TaxAct, I might as well try it next year. If Intuit is serious, it should refund money to all affected customers.

Well I'm going to try to refile my Turbotax Live preparation now and I'll let you know if this was accepted, I agree Turbotax needs to post an official update on the fix so people know when to refile!  This is hardly the $300 service I expect.

I just successfully refiled - without any changes to my initial filing (E-filed) on Turbo Tax Live and Federal was accepted within 30 minutes without the 8960_Hold Rejection, looks like Turbo Tax Live and Desktop have had updates rolled out.

Same 8960 Hold problem as many others. Same frustration with lack of communications and help. I guess resubmitting works if you can figure out how to do it. Dumb luck on my part.  it appear that the software fix was done sometime on 3/29, but no one bothered to tell the customers.

Hello Varvello, though it's not communicated by Turbotax directly many of us who got rejected with code 8960_Hold have filed again and it's been accepted very quickly (for both federal and state). So, seems like the problem is resolved now.
