I am unable to file a tax extension. I am getting the error "Unfortunately, the deadline for filing an extension has passed". Are you able to help me out?

Electronic extensions are not available yet. You can obtain one from the IRS website, print and mail if you need to file the extension this early.

I think its mid to late February soetime?  The filing season just opened on Monday, so its pretty early for people to think about extensions….

The list of forms release dates shows that its available already...its form 4868, you may be able to find it if you enter it in the Search box

Remember its not an extension to pay, its only an extension to file...if your return is complete and you know you owe money, the extension doesn't help much, you may as well file on time, then pay the money when you can.

I'm still getting the error that it's too late to file an extension...  I do not expect to pay so no pre-payment needed but I will not be filing on time.
