After great difficulty installing TT16 on a Win10 PC, it now attempts to start, and immediately quits. Just goes away, no error message or anything helpful.

I have used TT for many years, on many PCs. This year, I am using the same PC as last year. No major changes - did try uninstalling Firefox, but cannot get the program to actually start up. It will go thru the motions, and even bring up the welcome screen, but disappears in seconds, without a trace, or an error message.

Greatly disappointed!

I know it can be frustrating when there are difficulties installing a program on your computer.  Below are some troubleshooting steps that you can go through to get the program installed.  I'd recommend going into Selective Startup to install it as it is usually the most successful way to get the program installed, particularly with Windows 10.

I followed the recommended steps, and was able to install TT16.
However, you did not read my initial complaint - which still remains today.
So, please read this:
I CANNOT START TT - it seems to be starting - I get the blue window, with the messages at the bottom - "please be patient, it's taking a little longer..." - and then it just goes away. I have seen the opening window once, but it vanishes before I can even click "getting started".
I have used TT for 15-20 years, with satisfactory results, but have never experienced this nonsense before.
I am really angry about this, and want a resolution, before I request a refund. I need this program to do my taxes, and am feeling very frustrated.
PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO READ THIS, AND PROVIDE SOME MEANINGFUL HELP!

You may wish to phone TurboTax Support during business hours for realtime one-on-one assistance, which would be logistically easier and faster than trying to resolve in a bulletin board setting.

Use the form at this link to be assigned a phone number.  The number will not display when they are closed.

@anvilwest - I apologize, I should have been more specific on which troubleshooting step to use.  Although you have had no major changes to your computer, something is blocking TurboTax from opening and running.  It could be an anti-virus update, a firewall, some other program running in the background, or something related to an update, or something related to user rights (something that Windows 10 is stricter on than past OS's).

We recommend you check to make sure you're set up to run the program as the Admin.  Right click on the icon, then click on "Properties".  Form there, click on the "Compatibility" tab.  Click to mark the box "Run this program as an administrator".  Finally click "Apply" and "OK".  You can try to open the program again after that, if it still won't open for you please try the link below to reboot into Selective Startup.  This allows Windows to only run the critical programs so that any program that may be blocking TurboTax isn't running.
