Amending State Tax Returns

I previously filed state tax returns in California and Missouri in 2021 and 2022. I ended up paying Missouri state tax I didn't need to. Is it worth it for me to amend my state tax returns for both states if I received some credit from California for paying the Missouri tax? 

Does it all even out with the California credit or would I be owed money I should try to have refunded with amending?

Yes, theoretically it should even out.  If you paid tax in a state you lived in for wages earned in another state, your home state should give you credit for tax paid to other state, so that you are never double-taxed on the same wages by two states.

Without seeing your return, it would be hard to say if it would be worth it for you to Amend your return.  You could save your original return and test it before actually filing an Amended Return to see how it comes out.
