Hi, I first came to the US in August 2018 as an international student (F1 visa). As I have been in the US for more than 5 years, I believe I have become a resident alien for tax purposes based on the substantial presence test since August 2023 (I assume).
This is the first year I file tax in TurboTax, the software said that I am getting a standard deduction. I am wondering if I am eligible for standard deduction?

Yes.
As a US resident alien, you can take the Standard Deduction.
So it does not matter if I’m only US resident for some parts of 2023 and not the whole year?
If you are eligible to be a US resident for 2023 based on the Substantial Presence Test, you are eligible to take the standard deduction.
