Hello community,
Wanted to share my experience since I did not see this method on how to resolve e-filing being rejected by Federal IRS. Most answers I saw were typical copy/paste and time consuming calls with IRS and TT reps.
I recently filed my own taxes and to my surprise, Federal rejected my e-filing because the 1040 AIG in last year's (2020) filing did not match what IRS had in their database. After visiting their page (www.irs.gov) I reviewed my tax transcripts from 2020 and noticed a different AIG not found on 1040's: ADJUSTED GROSS INCOME PER COMPUTER. A quick search said the following, "Income tax paid* INCOME TAX AFTER CREDITS PER COMPUTER”. So my AIG per computer amount was different than my AIG listed on my 1040, line 11. Once I re-submitted with the AIG per computer amount, Federal accepted my return. No calling IRS, no snail mail copy, avoided a huge headache.
Hope this helps the community.
