After the free 5 federal returns plus 1 state return. How much are the additional Federal Returns to be e-filed and state returns.?

The 5 free Federal e-files are included in the Desktop version not the Online version.  Deluxe and above with the desktop software includes one free State program.  There is a charge to e-file a State return.

After the 5 Free federal e-files you would have to mail in your returns.  With the desktop software you can prepared unlimited returns but can only e-file 5 Federal returns.  You would also have to mail in your State return after the 5 e-files.

There is no additional cost to print and mail more returns using the CD/download, unless you count the incidental cost for paper, envelopes and postage.  

You cannot choose to e-file more than five federal returns.  That is an IRS limit.   If you have more than five they have to be sent in by mail.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.

Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses.  Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.

The 5 efiles from the Desktop CD/Download program is an IRS limit.  You can't buy more.

There are 2 ways to use Turbo Tax. You can use the Online browser version or buy and install the Desktop program.

The Online web version is only good for one account and one return. But you can use the same email address for 5 accounts.  You can log in and access your return from any computer. You only can see the forms after you pay and download the pdf. And you might need to upgrade to a higher version to enter different kinds of income. There are 4 Online versions. And you can add LIVE service or Full Service for expert help. In Online the fees are to prepare the federal and state returns (State is a separate charge) whether you efile or print and mail. Efiling is free and included. You can Transfer from last year's Desktop program.

The CD/Download Desktop you buy and install the program, which can do unlimited returns. The returns are only saved on your computer and can not be accessed from anywhere else. And not saved at Turbo Tax. So Be sure to save Frequently and make backups. You get 5 federal efile for free. In Deluxe and above you get 1 state PROGRAM download to prepare unlimited state returns (in that state). Each state return including the first one is $20 early or $25 to efile or you can print and mail the state for free. The Desktop programs do not have the expert help that is available to add to Online versions.  And the Desktop program has many other features over the Online versions.

Is the CD/Download version available for the MAC?  Can I download via the web the program. I do not have a cd drive to read the disk.?

Yes.  You can use the CD or Download on both Windows and Mac.  If you buy the CD there are 2 ways to install the Desktop program, either with the CD or by downloading the program.  You can buy the Desktop program directly from Turbo Tax or at local stores like Costco or Amazon, etc.  You can find sales at stores.  If you buy the Download be sure to pick the MAC download.
