Hi.
I've found myself in a bit of a pickle. I submitted my 2024 tax return over the weekend. Within minutes of submitting my return, I realized one of my 1099B forms for futures contracts activity did not import into TurboTax from my Schwab account. At this stage, the left side panel that shows income, deductions, credits, etc. was still showing. In my panic at having missed a form, I added form 6781 to the income section even though I'd already submitted my return.
Now, TurboxTax shows the information from form 6781 as though it was part of my original tax return submission. Upon reviewing my return PDF, it is clear that it was not. There is no form 6781 in my return nor is there anything in my Schedule D that shows the futures and contracts activity.
This is problematic because when I attempt to file an amended return, TurboTax shows the futures and contracts activity as though it was part of my original return.
I am not sure how I will be able to amend my return now since, as far as TurboTax is concerned, the futures contract activity is there (even though it wasn't in my submission). Has anyone ever run into this issue before and if so, how can I fix it?
Thanks for your help!

Hi, rjs:
Thank you for responding. I no longer have the option of modifying any forms so I don't see a way to remove Form 6781.
Since I added form 6781 after my return was submitted and before TurboTax removed the ability to modify my 2024 information, TurboTax now has the futures information included in my tax info even though it wasn't part of my return submission.
So when I try to do an amendment, the futures info is already there and TurboTax doesn't see that anything has changed. Side note - my return has been accepted and I have received my refund already. This is such an odd situation that I'm wondering if I need some kind of tech support.
User dmertz suggests the following to reopen your tax return. See if this allows you to delete the form.
"On the Tax Home webpage you can click Add a State to reopen your tax file. You won't actually be adding a state."
If you want to call TurboTax support, see the following.
What's the TurboTax phone number?
