a rental property

I have bought a rental property and closed on Dec 16,2021. It was not rented in 2021 started getting income in 2022.

I had expenses  with this rental property in 2021 like insurance, maintenance, utilities. 

Can I claim these expenses?

    Yes, you can claim these expenses if you were actively looking for a tenant in 2021. The expenses are entered on Schedule E.
