The extra $6000 (single) , 12,000 (MFJ) for those age 65 & Older.....that shows up on a separate line on the form 1040. (both must be age 65+ for the 12k when MFJ)
It's a deduction from income, and not a credit.
And it shows up on an entirely separate line 13b..... from the Std Ded (line 12e) on the 1040 form.
But it does phase-out for those with AGI greater than 75,000 Single/150,000 MFJ,
((.....and no 6k allowed if MFS))
