529 Plan Distribution Incorrectly Taxed

I am helping my son prepare his 2024 tax return.  His 1098-T form from his university does NOT include qualified tuition and other related expenses for the period January-March 2025.  (Box 7 is NOT checked). As a result, his 2024 educational expenses are understated, and as a result his 529 distributions as reported on 1099-Q exceed expenses and are thereby in part taxable as "Other Income."  How can we modify his TurboTax entries so that they accurately reflect his expenses and there is no taxable excess distribution income?  We are really glad that 2024 was the last year we need to report 529-related information via TurboTax.  The way TurboTax handles this subject is really clumsy!

529 Plan Distribution Incorrectly Taxed

Form 1099-Q is informational and not a required entry if the educational expenses exceed the distribution. If you spent the entirety on educational expenses, you can remove the 1099-Q.

You should keep the 1099-Q for your records.
