5 Federal e-files with IRS confirmation using TurboTax Desktop

How can my son use one of my 5 Federal e-files using my TurboTax Desktop without having to pay $45? He loaded TurboTax on his computer with his own username and password and used my license code.  Does he have to file using my email address and phone number?

What is the $45 for?  It is free to efile federal and only $25 to efile state.  Are you in California?  If he wants the $25 state efile fee deducted from a federal refund their is an Extra $40 Refund Processing Service charge (45 in California) which you can avoid by paying upfront with a credit card.  Or you can print and mail state for free.

Or is it charging him for a state program download?  Does he need to file in another state?  

And if he used your License Code he would have needed to log into your account to activate it.  I think when he files he can use his account.

Thank you. Yes we are in California. I let my son know your response since he is probably not using a credit card but trying to pay by having the money taken out of his refund!

You have to go through the File tab SLOWLY and read the screens.  People get going too fast and clicking on the right corner box to continue.  But you have to click on the left box to pay with a credit card to avoid the fee. See the last post with screenshot on this one
