2025. Form 1040, line 5c, rollover not checked?

Hi,

I am making after tax contributions to my employers 401k. The after tax contributions are converted in-plan to a Roth 401k. The 1099-R that I received lists the same amount for the gross contribution (box 1) and employee contribution (box 5), the taxable amount in box 2a is $0. box 2b, taxable amount not determined, is unchecked, distribution code (box 7) is "G".

When entering this information in the Turbotax Home & Business 2025 desktop app, I followed those steps:
1. Selected "Financial Institution or other provide (1099-R)".
2. Entered the information as described above, Same amount in box 1 and 5, $0 in box 2a, box 2b unchecked, box 7 "G".
3. Confirmed "Is the IRA/SEP/SIMPLE box on this 1099-R checked?" with "No, the box is blank".
4. Confirmed "Did you move this money from a 401(k) to a Roth 401(k)?" with "Yes, I moved the money to a Roth 401(k), Roth 403(b), or a 457(b) plan".
5. Selected for "Where is your distribution from?" the option "Other distribution".

6. Selected for "Do any of these situations apply to you?" the option "None of these apply".
7. Selected for "Did you make after-tax contributions to a 401(k), 403(b), or 457(b) plan?" the option "Yes" with the amount from 1099-R, box 5.

When reviewing the 1040, I noticed that Line 5a matches the amount in box 1/5 and Line 5b matches the $0 of box 2a. However, line 5c "Rollover" is not checked. Is this a bug in Turbotax?

That’s probably right.   It wasn’t a rollover but a conversion.
