I accidently file for a joint status when I should have filed single status. I did not have a refund or have to pay in and the IRS accepted my return Do I need to correct this with a 1040 X form? If so, does the whole form need to be completed or just the filing status section?

You will need to amend to correct the filing status. Not sure how you managed to use MFJ as a filing status without entering spouse information. Or.....did you use an old account that you used to use for joint returns in the past?
I’m not sure, I originally listed my marital status as divorced, although I have been divorced for 25+ years. My filing status is single. Maybe it was a glitch?
Divorced is not a filing status. The software asks if you are divorced in order to navigate you to certain later questions, but the options for filing status are Single, Married filing jointly, Married filing separately, Head of Household and Qualified Surviving Spouse. In MY INFO, before you continued, it told you what filing status you were using, so it seems you did not notice what it said.
Wait until the return has been fully processed and then amend it to change your filing status to Single.
I filed as single. I went back and checked. Thanks for your input, it gave me a better understanding.
