2024 info from form 1099-B

irs instructions require separate 8949 forms when you have to check more than one box (like D and E) to properly report the information.  how do i accomplish that when i am entering my info into turbo tax software? what prompts will i get? or what steps do i have to do? thanks for explanation

TurboTax automatically completes Form 8949 when you enter your stock sales. TurboTax will ask you questions during the interview process and will enter your short-term and long-term covered securities where they should be reported.

Review the TurboTax Help Articles: Do I need to fill out or mail in Form 8949? and Video: When to Use IRS Form 8949 for Stock Sales for additional information.

For more information on broker transactions, ‌ refer to the TurboTax article What is Form 1099-B: Proceeds from Broker Transactions? and Where do I enter or import a 1099-B?

2024 info from form 1099-B

TurboTax will ask you about the sale section

d - long-term - uncovered

e - long-term did not receive 1099-B  You'll have to lie in this case because most likely you did get a 1099-B. type e- means proceeds and cost not reported to IRS which in Turbotax lingo is did not receive 1099-B

2024 info from form 1099-B

hi sharon.  thanks for replying.  however still need to understand how to enter.

the irs instructions on form 8949 state that a separate 8949 has to be completed for each code entered (i.e. if i check box d and have to also check box e since both apply to my situation). so how will turbotax ask me the questions to get both forms completed and submitted (i am presuming turbotax includes the 8949 with my return it submits?!?). or do i have to do something to make the program generate two separate 8949 forms?

that is what i am trying to understand and make sure my return is done correctly.  so can you clarify that for me.

thanks
