No, the five digit PIN is a self-select number that you use to sign your return. It doesn't have to match your 2022 PIN, and is no longer used to validate your return.
Your AGI does have to match your 2022 AGI. If you need help matching that number, follow this link.
Wrong.
Title is Correct Taxpayers Prior Year PIN
Text body: You entered an invalid Prior Year PIN. Verify and make nessecary corections here. Blah blah blah. Prior Year PIN cannot be all zeroes.
Yes, it CAN be all zeroes because that is what we used last year. I checked the previous software and it IS 00000.
Further, 2023 has no place for me to "correct" this. The bolded "here" above doesn't exist. There is no indication anywhere in the program of where to find the prior year pin.
Create a new 5 digit pin for this year, or verify with your 2022 Adjusted Gross Income.
Already did both of those things as part of completing the task.
Let me tell you again. The program is grabbing the 00000 from the prior year file. The program is saying the 00000 is wrong. There is no point in the program I can find that allows me ANY input on the prior year pin.
