Long story...

This morning I try to e-file my tax return and got the validation error.

I search around and figured out how to update to the latest patch, after latest software installed I tried e-file again.. still got the same error. I search around more and some suggest than remove and install TurboTax could fix it so I tried that and the 42016 nightmare begins.

After I reinstall the software, I got the 42016 error, so no big deal, I apply the latest update from TurboTax website. Then when I try to open the taxfile. Turbox tax complains that the state software (NY) is missing and the program said they can't open the file without NY software install I try to download it but instead of free they want to charge me $45 ( I have Primer). I search around more and figure out that I need to clean the State software setup in order to download it again for free.. so I found TTCleanStates and run it to clean up. 

With the state clean up I am able to try to download the NY software for $0.. but when it start to download it gave me the 42016 error again. Now I am stuck with TurboTax without State software and I can't  open the file to print because it refused to open without the State software installed !! What a nightmare!!

Time to call support.. long story short typical support call and asked me to try everything 

which I have already try and try to imply problem with my internet connection etc so we did the share screen thing and all the rest....at the end she try everything she told me she is aware some users are experienced this 42016 error the only thing I can do is wait for an update🙄

For some reason It seems I got the idea this problem is only a Win problem and since I have MacBook, maybe the Mac version would work, so I asked her whether possible to give me a TT Mac key .. and she did kindly order one for me without charge. 

After receive the key, I install TT on Mac  then copy over the tax file and open it...  did a quick review and try to e-file . Guess what everything work with ZERO issue, I got my tax e-file  in less than 5 mins after I received the Mac key

There was a WIN OS update this week ... uninstalled updates will cause issues for the TT program.  Run the OS updates and restart your computer at least twice  then try the TT program again.

It will save people time to just ask for a Mac copy if they have a Mac system

My long story short also omitted the part that I have a spare laptop that has a fresh Windows system installed with no other software installed.

I installed the latest TT and it still getting the same update problem yesterday.

People could try uninstall and re-intall thing but my advice is
Please print out a physical copy so you can mail in IF  you don't get thing resolve by tomorrow and went into the same update hell where you can't even open the file.  Good Luck.

P.S: my efile already got accepted 1 hour after I sent it out on Mac
