2021 Schedule 3 and 1040 X

Hello,

The IRS stated an empty 2021 taxes was filed  but only the recovery rebate tax was filed. However, I did not file my 2021 taxes. I received a bill in 2024 but was leaving the country so I paid the bill. Now I am filing my return and I was told by the AUR that I need to file an 1040X and do a Schedule 3 to show the money I paid. However I do not know how to do this with my Turbo Tax Desktop, so can you provide assistant? Also, how do I put all the information from the 1040 to the 1040X and how do I prompt the Schedule 3 to come up as I file to report the income previously paid?

Make sure you are logged in using the same credentials you used when you prepared your 2021 return.  As long as you use the same credentials, the information that was used to file the original return will pull up as the originally filed return. 

Then, follow the steps in this link to prepare your amended tax return.  This will then reflect the Schedule 3 as originally filed and the updated amended tax return based upon your entries in the amended return.
