I opted-in to receiving the IP PIN in September 2020. At sign up, I immediately received my 2019 IP PIN, although I had already filed my 2019 taxes.
It is now January 19, 2021, and I am waiting on my 2020 IP PIN to file my tax year 2020 returns. Since I voluntarily signed-up for the IP PIN, my understanding is that I must do something online to generate that new 2020 IP PIN. I logged into my IRS online account (the one where you can submit estimated tax payments amongst other actions), and cannot for the life of me find how to generate my 2020 IP PIN.
Can anyone write me the steps once I'm logged into the IRS site to generate my 2020 IP PIN please?
Thanks,
Matt

Go to this IRS website for information - https://www.irs.gov/identity-theft-fraud-scams/get-an-identity-protection-pin
If you’re volunteering for the IP PIN Opt-In Program you should use the online Get an IP PIN tool. If you don’t already have an account on IRS.gov, you must register to validate your identity. Before you register, read about the secure access identity authentication process. Note:
Yes, I already am aware of these instructions. I'm asking how to get my 2020 IP PIN, and I am opting in. I have an IRS account. Where specifically do I get the new year pin? There's nothing there - no hyperlink or anything - when I sign into my IRS account.

Then it probably is not yet available if you clicked on the button Get an IP PIN and then signed onto your IRS account.
As stated on the IRS website -
I just completed the online process to get an IRS Identity Protection PIN. It generated my "2021 Identity Protection PIN." Question: Is this for my 2020 tax return, or for my 2021 tax return? Thank you!
Yes, the 2021 IP PIN is for the 2020 tax year.
In the past, the IRS sent out a new IP PIN every year. Now, generally a taxpayer must re-apply for a new IP PIN every year.
The following webpage has more information about applying for the 2021 IP PIN for tax year 2020.
