I have my entire 2020 overpayment flagged on 1040 line 36 as applying to 2021 estimates. Yet the 1040ES1 is not reflecting this - all 4 payments are exactly the same. Is this an open issue for TY2020?
BTW TurboTax, why is there not a single check mark to do this as there is on the CA return? If a number changes on the return, we have to remember to go back and manually change this amount.
Thanks.

Maybe it first applied it to the first quarter estimate and then divided the remaining total to all 4. Hope you followed that.
Thank you for the suggestion. Yes I had already checked that, it wasn't the issue. I finally found what it was however. It turns out in the Estimated Tax Options that the same amount as has to be manually input to the return to be applied rather than refunded (1040 line 36) also has to be manually input to the second-to-last line of the second section, creating yet another opportunity to miss changing it if anything changes on the return.
