2019 returns will not save to .pdf

Prior to filing my returns, I always save them as a .pdf to review all forms. This year trying to save to .pdf either through the menu bar or during the filing process causes the TurboTax 2019 application to stop responding (hang.) I have restarted the application and my computer several times. I am using the application with a valid license code locally on Mac OS  Mojave.

2019 returns will not save to .pdf

wondering if you found any resolution. I was able to save my return as a pdf, but not able to print or save required forms for filing. Turbo Tax keeps giving me an error message that it cannot convert forms to pdf.

To answer your question, yes the software is updated via the internet every time I open the application. I am using the application locally which I originally installed from a CD. Again, I am on a Mac using Mojave and I have been using TurboTax since 2007. My normal workflow is to review and proof the return as a .pdf prior to filling them. (After filing, I create another final .pdf for my records and discard the proofing copy. If necessary I will print a few pages from the .pdf.) As stated originally, the application "hangs" when attempting to create a .pdf for proofing.

 

Since I do a couple of tax returns for others in my family, I took a chance with the TurboTax application and filed a federal and state return for the person with the most simple returns without having reviewed and proofed them as a .pdf prior to filing.

 

To my surprise, after filing the returns, I was able to create a .pdf of the returns anywhere in TurboTax where the option exists to either print or create a .pdf. And, of course, I was able to print from the local .pdf document. This behavior must be either a bug or by design in TurboTax 2019 where printing/creating a .pdf can only be accomplished AFTER filing a return. Please advise. If it's by design, the application should explain why instead of just hanging! Unfortunately, now I must review returns prior to filing from the "forms" section of the application which does not present the returns in the same format as the actual returns.

2019 returns will not save to .pdf

I finally had time to uninstall and reinstall the TurboTax application for Mac per the instructions in the link. A bit tedious and annoying to be sure; took me the better part of an hour to remove all the pieces and parts, reinstall then test the application with a return that had not yet been filed. Fortunately the effort was successful and I can now create .pdf copies of returns in advance of filing. Since I originally installed the app from a purchased CD, this time I downloaded the application from Intuit using my license code just in case the CD is defective.
