2 Page W2 - Same Employer, Part Year Resident

My wife was a part year resident of WI last year and now lives in MN. She worked in MN the entire year and kept the same job. We have decided to file separately but she needs help filing.

She got a two page W2 in the mail and she was trying to figure out the following:

page 1:

  1. Federal Filling Copy
  2. MN State Filing Copy

page 2:

  1. WI State Filing Copy

All the boxes appear the same except 12CD, 15, 16. No amount in box 17 on the WI filing copy.

If anyone could advise her how to file this, it would be great before seeking out a CPA.

You can consolidate the information on the W2s for the TurboTax entry.

box 15 doesn’t have a state ID for WI because her income is only tax in MN. What do I enter in this box?  Turbotax won’t let me leave it empty? Do I input the federal EIN?

If there is no amount in box 17 this means no state income tax was withheld. In this case, I would leave box 15 and 16 blank as well when entering.
