12DD marked despite never having an employer health plan

What do I do if this occurred? My employer sent me a W2 in which they marked box 12 and put code DD but I never had insurance through them as I went through the marketplace all year? I live in Michigan so this doesn't seem to affect me either way but this screams fraud to me. I also have an employer who has reported me receiving nearly double in earnings in what I received in gross earnings. Is this going to get me audited? Should I report these?

You can't correct your W-2 on your own. It won't match what your Employer reported to the IRS

Per IRS:

If your W-2 is incorrect

Ask your employer to correct the error. If your employer doesn't correct it by the end of February, you should either:

• Call us at 800-829-1040
• Make an appointment at an IRS Taxpayer Assistance Center

We'll send your employer a letter asking them to give you a corrected W-2 within 10 days.

We'll also send you instructions for Form 4852, Substitute for Form W-2. You can use it to estimate your earnings.
