Hello I have a question and please bear with me because I’m trying to explain this right.  Okay in 2023 I took my entire retirement, no I am not close to 50 nothing but it was for hardship and what I was going through.  I got penalized for it because I withdrew it before it was time.  I received the 1099r paper in the mail and I filed it on my taxes last year.  Okay now while doing my taxes it’s asking me have I did this (withdrew my retirement) before in years 2021, 2022, and 2023 if I click on yes will I have to claim this again on this year taxes??? Even though I ready reported that I took it and had proof when I entered it on my last year taxes??? I’m so confused on this part.  Please let me know if you understand what I am saying.  I don’t want to lie and get penalized or rejected for this when I’m actually telling the truth.  I don’t have a 1099R for 2024 not even expecting one.

"it’s asking me have I did this (withdrew my retirement) before in years 2021, 2022, and 2023"

2024 TurboTax is asking in regard to the Retirement Savings Contributions Credit.  You must enter the amount that was distributed to you in 2023.  This does not increase your taxable income but likely does decrease the amount of Retirement Savings Contributions Credit you might otherwise be eligible to receive.

If the distribution you took in 2023 is not a disaster distribution which I understand is the case, you can skip these questions.

You have correctly reported the distribution in 2023, and have nothing more to report on your 2024 tax return,
