1099-MISC, but not proprietor

My son's girlfriend did some work at a dance studio as a part-time instructor, and received a 1099-MISC.  She is not any sort of proprietor, let alone the sole proprietor.  How do I get around this?  If we say "received 1099-MISC, but should've rec'd W-2, that gets the employer in trouble, right?

Unfortunately, there is no "getting around" the 1099-Misc.  If she worked as an independent contractor, meaning she taught the classes she wanted, when she wanted, the 1099-Misc was issued properly. The good news is that as an independent contractor she gets to deduct her expenses to teach the class, such as mileage to get to the studio, uniforms or other items needed to teach the class.
